The Brisbane 2032 Games will be the most digitally connected event in history. Behind every viral clip and live broadcast is a massive team of Media Assistants. Working in the Main Press Centre (MPC) or the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), you will be the engine room for thousands of journalists and broadcasters from across the globe, ensuring the “Brisbane story” reaches billions of screens.

What These Jobs Involve
Media Assistant roles are fast-paced and put you right at the intersection of sport and storytelling.
Assisting with Daily Operational Tasks: This includes managing “Mixed Zones” where athletes are interviewed post-event, distributing official results and start lists to journalists, and helping set up press conference rooms for gold medalists.
Supporting Teams and Contractors: You will work directly with host broadcasters (OBS), global news agencies, and technical contractors to ensure power, internet, and camera positions are fully functional and secure.
Ensuring Smooth Event Delivery: By managing the flow of media personnel within the venue, you ensure that photographers get the perfect shot without obstructing the field of play, keeping the broadcast schedule moving like clockwork.

Requirements & Skills
You don’t need a journalism degree, but you do need to be tech-savvy and highly organized under pressure.
Reliable and Punctual: Media schedules are dictated by live television. Being on-site and ready to assist before the cameras go live is non-negotiable.
Good Communication Skills: You will be interacting with media professionals from every continent. The ability to give clear directions and handle “high-energy” journalists with professionalism and a calm demeanor is essential.
Relevant Licences: While specific licences are rare, a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is often required. Proficiency in digital content tools or basic AV equipment is a major plus. Most importantly, you must be able to maintain total confidentiality regarding “behind-the-scenes” athlete interactions.

How to Get Started
Beyond the paycheck, the professional growth is immense:
• Apply through relevant companies: Don’t just look at the airport itself. Apply with ground handling agencies (like Qantas Ground Services, dnata, or Menzies), security firms, and retail groups.
• Prepare a resume: Highlight any experience in high-pressure environments, customer service, or logistics.
• Monitor job boards and opportunities: Set up alerts on the official Brisbane 2032 portals.
