Brisbane Olympics Accreditation & Pass Issuing Jobs: Full Guide

The Accreditation and Pass Issuing team acts as the digital gatekeepers of the Games. Every person you see with a lanyard—from the President of the IOC to the athlete’s coach and the stadium janitor—must be verified through this department. This role is a unique mix of high-stakes security, data management, and face-to-face customer service.

What These Jobs Involve

Accreditation is the process of identifying every Games participant and granting them specific access to designated zones.

  • Assisting with Daily Operational Tasks: This involves operating high-speed ID printers, capturing digital photographs for passes, and verifying government-issued identification against the official Games database. You will also manage the “Problem Resolution” desk for lost, stolen, or damaged credentials.

  • Supporting Teams and Contractors: You will coordinate with various Functional Areas (FAs) to ensure their staff have the correct “Access Codes” (e.g., access to the field of play, media centers, or athlete lounges). You’ll work closely with Security Screening teams to ensure the digital chips (RFID) in the passes are functioning correctly.

  • Ensuring Smooth Event Delivery: By streamlining the “check-in” process at the Accreditation Centres, you prevent administrative bottlenecks that could otherwise delay the arrival of critical staff, officials, or athletes to their events.

Requirements & Skills

Since you are handling sensitive personal data and issuing high-level security passes, a high level of discretion is required.

  • Reliable and Punctual: Accreditation Centres often have “peak waves” (such as the 48 hours before the Opening Ceremony). Being on-site and ready to process a high volume of arrivals is essential for venue security.

  • Good Communication Skills: You will interact with people from over 200 countries. You must be able to explain complex access rights clearly and remain professional even when dealing with high-profile guests or frustrated staff.

  • Relevant Licences: * Criminal History Check: Mandatory for all accreditation staff to ensure the integrity of the security system.

How to Get Started

Beyond the paycheck, the professional growth is immense:

• Apply through relevant companies: Don’t just look at the airport itself. Apply with ground handling agencies (like Qantas Ground Services, dnata, or Menzies), security firms, and retail groups.
• Prepare a resume: Highlight any experience in high-pressure environments, customer service, or logistics.
• Monitor job boards and opportunities: Set up alerts on the official Brisbane 2032 portals.

Pay & Conditions

• $25–$45 per hour depending on role
• Shift work including nights/weekends
• Mostly temporary contracts
