As a Venue Security Screener, you are the critical line of defense for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. Stationed at pedestrian and vehicle checkpoints, your primary goal is to ensure that only authorized personnel and safe items enter the competition venues, training sites, and spectator plazas.

Security screening is a precision-based role that requires constant focus to keep the “Clean Zone” of a venue secure.
Assisting with Daily Operational Tasks: This involves operating X-ray machines, metal detectors (walk-through and handheld wands), and performing physical bag searches for prohibited items.
Supporting Teams and Contractors: You will work alongside the Queensland Police Service (QPS), federal agencies, and venue managers to manage incident responses or escalated security threats.
Ensuring Smooth Event Delivery: While maintaining strict safety standards, you must also manage high-volume “peak arrival” crowds efficiently to ensure spectators don’t miss the start of their events due to slow entry lines.
Requirements & Skills
Security is one of the most strictly regulated industries in Queensland. You cannot work in this field without valid legal credentials.
- Reliable and Punctual: Security briefings happen long before the public arrives. You must be on-site for the daily “Threat Brief” to understand specific risks for that day’s events.
- Good Communication Skills: You need the ability to give firm but polite instructions to a diverse international crowd. Handling frustrated spectators with calm authority is a key part of the role.
- Relevant Licences: * Security Provider Licence (Class 1): In Queensland, you must hold an Unarmed Security Officer and Crowd Controller licence.
