The Athlete Village (located primarily at the Brisbane Showgrounds with satellite villages on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) is the heart of the Games. Housing over 10,000 athletes and officials, it functions like a “mini-city” that requires a massive, dedicated workforce to ensure the world’s elite competitors can focus entirely on their performance.

What These Jobs Involve
Village roles are unique because they blend high-end hospitality with military-grade logistics and strict security.
- Assisting with Daily Operational Tasks: This includes managing the 24/7 “Main Dining Hall” (capable of serving thousands of meals daily), coordinating laundry and housekeeping for athlete suites, and managing leisure/recreation hubs.
- Supporting Teams and Contractors: You will act as a liaison for international Olympic Committees (NOCs), assisting with their specific office setups, medical spaces, and equipment transport within the village secure zone.
- Ensuring Smooth Event Delivery: You’ll manage internal “Village Transport” systems (shuttles), assist with athlete “Welcome Ceremonies,” and ensure that all residential amenities are functioning perfectly around the clock.

Requirements & Skills
Because the Village is a residential “sanctuary” for athletes, staff must balance high efficiency with total discretion.
- Reliable and Punctual: Operations in the village never sleep. Shift work is mandatory, and being on time is vital for maintaining the strict schedules of training and competition shuttles.
- Good Communication Skills: You will interact with people from over 200 nations. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate across language barriers (often with the help of digital translation tools) are essential.
- Relevant Licences: Most roles require a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and a criminal history check for security clearance. Food service roles will require RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) or Food Safety Certificates, while logistics roles may require an Open Driver’s Licence or Forklift Ticket.
