Job Description

The Company is seeking a Head of Federal Affairs to lead its relationship with the Federal Government. This pivotal role involves driving the federal government engagement strategy, building strong Commonwealth relationships, and ensuring alignment on key priorities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for proactive engagement with Ministers, Parliamentarians, and Federal Departments to coordinate critical policy and delivery enablers. Strategic advice on legislative and regulatory pathways, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders and manage key initiatives with a diplomatic approach, are essential. The Head of Federal Affairs will also work closely with the President, CEO, and Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, providing expert guidance on federal government matters and supporting the operational teams in the delivery of initiatives that require coordination with federal agencies and international partners.

Requirements

Applicants for the Head of Federal Affairs position at the company should have a strong knowledge of key policy and legislative areas related to the Federal government’s impact on the Games. Demonstrated experience in developing strong relationships with federal government stakeholders and excellent oral presentation, negotiation, and engagement skills are required. A background in policy areas such as industrial relations, immigration, security, and quarantine is desirable. The role demands a candidate with a proven track record in influencing and a high level of cross-cultural capability.
