The Opportunity:
Melbar is looking for two motivated and detail-oriented professionals to join our supportive and collaborative team in Brisbane or Sydney on a full-time basis.
The Senior Billing & Finance Officer provides experienced support across billing, claims, reconciliation, statements and other consumer finance matters for the Support at Home Provider. This role is responsible for reviewing and coordinating more complex finance transactions, investigating exceptions, supporting monthly claim and billing activities, and helping ensure finance outputs are accurate, timely and well controlled. The role also acts as a senior point of support within the team, contributes to workflow improvement and helps uplift process quality as the hub develops.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Support end-to-end monthly billing and claim preparation activities, including review of supporting data, reconciliation and exception management.
• Investigate claim, billing, and statement discrepancies and coordinate timely follow-up with relevant internal or external stakeholders.
• Prepare or review finance schedules, reconciliations, adjustment support and other working papers required for billing, statements and reporting.
• Assist with the management of more complex customer finance matters and provide clear explanation or escalation support where required.
• Monitor recurring issues, identify process gaps and contribute practical recommendations to improve workflow efficiency, quality and internal controls.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and quality support to junior team members, including review of work outputs and reinforcement of standard processes.
• Support ad hoc reporting, audit preparation and other finance projects as directed.
Requirements
Experience and Skills:
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or another relevant discipline.
• CPA or CA qualifications are not required; professional study or part-completion is advantageous but not essential.
• Demonstrated experience in billing, finance operations, claims support, reconciliations, statements or similar transactional finance functions.
• Strong Microsoft Excel capability, including ability to work with large data sets, reconciliations, formulas and exception review.
• Experience with MYOB is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain finance matters clearly and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes and support workable solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise, manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong teamwork capability, with a willingness to support, guide and collaborate with other team members.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive finance information
• Experience in aged care, disability services, community services, or a related sector is highly regarded
• Bilingual communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) are highly regarded
