We are currently seeking a self-motivated; service focussed, physically fit candidate with a love of working in the outdoors and a demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety to join our Facilities Team as a Grounds Person in a Permanent Full Time role. Attending to and maintaining the professional appearance of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre’s 72 hectares of grounds to ensure a safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing environment at our site.
Reporting to the Grounds Coordinator the main duties and responsibilities for these positions include, but are not limited to:
- Undertaking general grounds maintenance duties, ensuring the expected standard of work is maintained at all times;
- Other duties included but not limited to are: mowing, edging, snipping, weeding, mulching, planting, pruning, sweeping, litter collection, cleaning and/or other gardening, property or turf related tasks associated with grounds maintenance;
- Fertilising and weeding with the use of some chemicals;
- Trimming small trees and bushes;
- Small odd maintenance jobs such as sprinklers and taps;
- Rubbish removal and disposal;
- Manual handling – barrowing;
- Ensuring the safe operation and transportation of vehicle, plant and equipment including performing routine checks;
- Other duties assisting the Grounds Coordinator and Facilities Manager as required.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Built by the Brisbane City Council as a world class multipurpose facility, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre formed part of Brisbane’s bid for the 1992 Olympic Games. The Centre has been operated since its inception by Legends Global (formerly ASM Global and AEG Ogden Brisbane Pty Ltd). Ownership was transferred to Stadiums Queensland (formerly Major Sports Facilities Authority) from 1 July 2002.
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre has hosted a diverse range of events including Monster Trucks, Supercross, Circuses, Bull Riding, Concerts, Conventions, School Speech Nights, Ice Spectaculars, Wrestling and Boxing.
Primarily recognised as a venue to host concerts, family shows and sporting events, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre also specialises in staging corporate events in particular conferences, seminars, product launches and gala banquets.
